A filament wound mandrel
is generally manufactured in the same process as ordinary
mandrels, except for the final processes. In the final
processes resin-coated of resin-impregnated, high
strength, continuous filaments made from fibers of
generally glass, graphite, Kevlar or boron materials
are wound over the mandrel using longitudinal, circumferential
or helical patterns. After winding the mandrel are
placed in an oven for curing.
